Monique and I spent our evening as vendors at the Cradlestone Mall Night Market in Mogale City, Johannesburg, and we’re buzzing from the experience. What Makes Cradlestone Mall Night Market a Candle Lover’s Dream

The Cradlestone Mall Night Market runs on the first Thursday of each month from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the mall’s top-level parking area. It’s free to enter, which we love, and it’s packed with local vendors, food stalls, and live music. Tonight, the air was filled with the aroma of burgers, Thai dishes, and lots of other market food, while fairy lights and music set the perfect backdrop. It’s the kind of night where you can grab a bite, enjoy the tunes, and discover handmade treasures like our candles—all in one spot.

Hand Poured Crafted Candles Brings the Scent Magic

Monique and I set up our Hand Poured Crafted Candles stall with our full lineup of handmade candles, showcasing scents like French Pear, Lemongrass, and Black Cherry, plus a few other crowd-pleasers. Each candle is hand-poured with natural wax and premium fragrance oils for a clean, long-lasting burn that fills your space with fragrance you’ll love. We displayed them on wooden racks and rustic slices to give our stall a warm, earthy feel, and added some cheeky bunting flags overhead with phrases like “Set the Mood” and “Scentsational Laughs!” to keep things lighthearted. We even have a “Naughty Box” section with a pink cloth for some of our more playful scents—because who doesn’t love a little fun with their candles?
Pro tip: When you’re choosing a scent, think about the mood you want to create. French Pear is perfect for a cozy, fruity vibe, while Lemongrass brings a fresh, uplifting energy. Black Cherry, though? That’s your go-to for a warm, inviting glow that works in any room. We had a customer tonight who picked up Black Cherry and said it reminded her of her childhood—those kinds of moments are why we do what we do.

Building Connections at the Market

We had a great time connecting with all of you at the market. It’s always a highlight to chat with fellow candle lovers and hear what scents you’re drawn to. One guy grabbed a Lemongrass candle because it reminded him of a trip abroad—those stories make our night! We also got to know some of the other vendors, like the folks next to us selling pottery and candles. Let’s be real: being surrounded by creatives like that gets us inspired for what’s next. (Maybe a pottery-candle collab in the future? We’ll keep you posted!)
Here’s a quick behind-the-scenes moment: I got a little overzealous hanging our bunting flags and almost tipped over a stack of French Pear candles. Monique gave me that look—you know the one—but we got it sorted, and the flags added such a fun vibe to our stall. It’s those little hiccups that make these nights memorable.
